To get you started, let's look at some of the things you will have to address. What is involved in renovating a kitchen, and how much will it cost? There are a number of major elements to a kitchen renovation
- You need to select and buy some cabinets
- You need to select and buy some bench tops
- You need a group of tradesmen to do the onsite work - someone has to pull the old kitchen out, clean up the rubbish, install the new cabinets, plumb the sink, taps, D/W, gas H/P, duct the hood externally, provide power points to D/W, M/W, H/P, Fridge, Hood etc, wire the oven, repair the plaster & recornice as necessary, organise the glass splashbacks or tiling, and anything else that needs doing to reinstate your home.
- You will need to buy some appliances, from a discount store.
We have developed a simple and very rough costing guide. It will enable you to intelligently "guesstimate" where you are heading with a given material selection. The sample trades section will also help you understand just what has to be done to reinstate your kitchen in a functional sense. Other considerations:-
- Sometimes, you may require some structural work
- Are you considering new flooring or are you happy to work around the existing floor plan?
- Internal fittings & features - types and quantity
